Contact lens exams and fittings

Contact lenses, fitted and taught

A contact lens visit has two parts: the eye exam, and a fitting that checks how a lens sits on your eye.

Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy after your exam and fitting, and you can fill it anywhere. If a seller calls to verify your contact lens prescription, we confirm it.

Two hands hold a contact lens case and a pair of tweezers on a pale table.

Step by step

What happens at a fitting

  1. 01

    Step 1: The exam

The eye exam comes first, to check that your eyes are healthy enough for lenses.

  2. 02

    Step 2: The fitting

The doctor measures your eyes and chooses a lens that suits them.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Trial lenses

You wear a trial pair, so you can see how they feel before you decide.

  4. 04

    Step 4: A lesson

Marcus shows you how to put lenses in, take them out and care for them. We watch you do it.

  5. 05

    Step 5: A follow-up

A short visit to check that the lenses are working for your day, and to answer questions.

Billing and what to bring

  • How it is billed

The exam is usually billed to your vision plan. The fitting and the lenses themselves are often paid by you. We give you a written estimate before you decide.

    How fees work
  • What to bring

    • Your current contact lenses and their boxes, if you have them

    • Your glasses

    • Vision and medical insurance cards
