Eye problems and urgent visits
Something wrong with your eyes? Call us first
One phone call sorts out where to go.
Call the office and tell us what you notice. The doctor decides whether you should be seen, and how soon, and tells you if an emergency room is the better place to go.
We cannot promise a same-day visit. Call as early as you can, and we will say what to do next.
- Sudden vision loss, flashes of light, a curtain over your vision, a chemical splash or an eye injury needs care now. Call our office right away or go to an emergency room. If you can't reach us, call 911.
Call us if you notice
When to call
A sore or watery eye
Call us. The doctor decides whether to see you, and how soon.
Something in your eye
Do not rub it. Call us. If it was a chemical, go to an emergency room now.
A change in your vision over a day or two
Call us on the day you notice it, and tell us what has changed.
A contact lens that hurts or will not come out
Take the lens out if you can, and call us before you put it back in.
How it is billed
A visit about an eye problem
This kind of visit is usually billed to your medical insurance, not your vision plan. We tell you before the visit what we know about your plan.
How fees workIf you need more care
We refer you to a medical eye doctor and send your records. That office tells you what it bills.
About urgent visits
What if the office is closed?
For anything that cannot wait, go to an emergency room. For sudden vision loss or an eye injury, do not wait for us to open.
Should I come in or wait for my regular exam?
Call and ask. A new problem is a reason to call, even if your last exam was recent.
Will you see me if I am not a patient yet?
Call and tell us what is happening. We will say what we can do and what you should do while you wait.
Not urgent? Book a visit
Pick a time in our booking system, or call and we will find one with you.
